Demo privacy
Test details. Clear boundaries.
Roomwell Decorating is a fictional website demonstration. It only ever accepts one fixed set of made-up contact details, so no real person's information is collected.
What an enquiry saves
Each demo enquiry saves the room details entered, the estimate recalculated by the server or the reasons a site visit is needed, the sample note chosen, a reference and the time it was received. It also stores the fixed demo contact details: Demo Visitor, alex@example.com and the fictional postcode AB1 2CD.
The record is saved in a private database on the hosting account. It is never served as part of the website, and no page lists or shows saved records. The hosting provider processes the network information needed to serve and protect the site; the demonstration itself does not store IP addresses.
What it never does
No email, text message, call, booking, payment or customer-management record is created. Real names, email addresses, phone numbers, postcodes and free-text messages are refused by the server rather than stored.
Cookies and browser storage
One short-lived, functional cookie protects the enquiry form from requests made by other sites. There are no advertising or analytics cookies, no remote fonts and no third-party requests. Contact details are never written to browser storage.
How long records stay
Records are meant to be deleted after 30 days. Deletion is attempted each time a later demo enquiry is saved, so older records can remain if the demo is not used or a clean-up attempt fails. The person running the demonstration can also delete them sooner.
Before this becomes a real service
A real business would need its own approved rates, an enquiry destination, proper access controls and a privacy notice that describes how genuine customer information is handled.
